Kanyakumari is the city in Tamil Nadu of India and is perfectly at the southern tip of India. The city is surrounded from three sides by sea and oceans which are Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean. The place is great for its coastal lines, sea food along with some other tourist attractions in the place. The city provides astonishing views of sunsets and moon lights in the coast line. Also the Vivekananda Memorial Statue is another place which provides deep sense of meditation along with its historical importance. This is near from southern cities of Chennai or Bangaluru. But it is well connected from any part of India be it by train, road or air. Direct train and flights are available from almost any mega city of India.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial

Along with the beaches the Vivekananda Rock Memorial is one of the most important tourist attractions while anyone visit Kanyakumari. The Vivekananda Rock was built to commemorate the great religious reformer Swami Vivekananda. Opened to public in 1970 it has two main structures Vivekananda Mandapam and Shripada Mandapam. This place is mainly known as Vivekananda meditated in this place and this had been a very good view point as well.

Thiruvalluvar Statue

The gigantic statue of Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar standing atop an island, few metres into sea is another major tourist attractions. Standing at 133 Ft this was opened to public in 2000. The statue stands on a three tier pedestral known as Atharapeedam which is further surrounded by Alankarapeedam.

Kanyakumari Beach

An unplanned visit to the main beach of Kanyakumari is a must have experience. The shoreline is great for beautiful coastal food, coastal walk and beautiful sunsets and moon lights. This place after whole day sightseeing can be great for relaxation and sunsets every tourist must look upto. Never to forget the beautiful south indian street foods available.

Padmanabhapuram Palace

Upholding a georgeous architecture, the Padamanabhapuram Palace is one of the best places to visit in the city. Located at foothills of Veli hills the palace was built in 16th century by Kulasekhara Perumal of the Travancore Kingdom. The floors are of black granite, murals, various floral carvings and a host of the others connoisseur's collections, touring the palace is a sense of pleasure.

Thanamulayan Temple

Dedicated of Shivaite and Vaishnaivaite it is one of the most reverred worship place in Kanyakumari. The deities in the temple is Sthanumalyam a single form of Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Constructed in Dravidiyan style of architecture the structure is easily visible from distance.

Sunset View Point

If you are looking for a calm and quiet spot in Kanyakumari then a visit to Sunset View Point is must. Watching the sunset across the horizons at the confluence of three seas Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean is a thrilling experience.

Vattakotai Fort

Resting along the coast of Bay of Bengal is a must visit attraction in the city. One of the coastal forts created by rulers of Travancore Kingdom, dates back to 18th century. Built on solid stone the fort comprises watch towers, weapon rooms and resting rooms. The architecture is worth visiting for this fort.

Thirparappu Falls

One of the most popular places in Kanyakumari is Thirparappu Falls. Locate at 55 KMs from the city it makes an enchanting sight to behold. The falls originated from Kodyar river and falls 50 Ft. The scenic beauty of the place is admirable for the tourists.

So whenever you may be planning to visit the southernmost tip of the country, the beautiful city of Kanyakumari never leave any of these awesome places from your list. Again just try to make the visit at least once and that too soon.
